There are five ways of installing Windows® XP. Review the all methods and choose the one that is appropriate for your installation. Here we are assuming that you want to perform a clean installation.

Use this method in order run two operating system side by side on a desktop computer.

Method 5: Perform a multiple boot operation
Enables you to install more than one operating system on your computer and select which Windows® that you want to use every time that you start your computer.

To perform a Windows® XP clean installation on your desktop computer follows these steps:

STEP1. Boot your computer from the Windows® XP CD. To do this, put the Windows® XP CD into your CD drive or DVD drive, and then reboot your machine.

STEP2. When you see the "Press any key to boot from CD" message, press any key to start the computer from the Windows® XP CD.

STEP3. At the Welcome to Setup screen, press ENTER to initiate Windows® XP Setup.

STEP4. Accept the Microsoft® Software License agreement, and then press F8.

STEP5. Follow the instructions on the screen to select and format a partition where you want to load Windows® XP.

STEP6. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the Windows® XP Setup.
