What is Windows® XP Service Pack 3 and why do you need to install it on your computer?

Windows® XP Service Pack 3 is comprised of all previously released updates for the operating system. The service pack includes security updates, hotfixes and select out-of-band releases. You can update Service Pack 3 on Windows® XP operating system installed on your computer by using Windows® update. Service Pack 3 can be downloaded either manually or automatically from Windows® update. The service pack includes two new features, namely Black Hole Router Detection Windows® and Network Access Protection, which were not a part of earlier released service packs.
